Coasters is a sister-restaurant of the well-known Drifter’s restaurant of Smith Mountain Lake.

After six incredible seasons at Drifter’s, the opportunity presented itself for owners Ryan & Jaclyn Walters to expand to a second location at the lake.

With their love & passion for the Smith Mountain Lake community, as well as the beauty of the location itself, Ryan & Jaclyn felt like it was the perfect place to continue what Drifter’s already started – but with a new menu & new scenic view – on the Franklin County side of the lake.

So, why “Coasters”?

The name came from various inspirations – from Ryan & Jaclyn’s families both splitting opposite coastlines of the states (Florida & California, respectively), to the beauty of the 500+ miles of coastline at the lake itself, to the overarching love of coastlines both oceanic & lakefront – it felt like the perfect name to reflect all these aspects while still nodding to the Drifter’s brand & culture.

If you’ve ever been a guest of Drifter’s, then you can expect the same culture at Coasters, just with a unique menu and different view – but same exceptional guest experience.

We’re all coasting through this life, trying to enjoy moment after moment & capture memory after memory, each as they come. Because of this, we feel each of us are truly all “Coasters” at heart!
